Jeremy Lane on Rob Gronkowski: I Actually Don’t Think He’s That Good

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Jeremy Lane may in fact have just woken up the Gronk. While talking to Seattle-based reporters prior to Thursday’s practice, the young defensive back had this to say about New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski (via the Seattle Times).

I actually don’t think he’s that good,” Lane said. “He’s OK. But he does have a big body, and from what I’ve seen on tape, he don’t like your hands being put on him. So if we put our hands on him and shake him up a little bit, he won’t catch that many balls as he should.

That’s an interesting opinion considering Gronkowski put up 82 receptions for 1,124 yards and 12 touchdowns this past season. Over the course of his career, the Pro Bowler is averaging 67.4 yards and nearly a touchdown per game.

As a First-Team All-Pro, this is likely the first time in a while that Gronkowski’s name has been mentioned in the same sentence as “I actually don’t think he’s that good.”

The good news for Lane is that Seattle’s duo at safety, Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor, will be tasked with lining up against Gronkowski.
