WATCH: Saints pull off trick-play TD in blowout over Rams

NFL head coaches

Trick plays are as American as Apple Pie and Uncle Sam. The New Orleans Saints pulled one off in today’s blowout over the Los Angeles Rams.

While it could be considered disrespectful in coaching circles, the play was fun nonetheless and was well received by non-Rams fans across the nation.

With just over ten minutes left in the fourth quarter, Drew Brees tosses a backwards pass to wide receiver Willie Snead, who promptly sets and throws a beautiful pass to running back Tim Hightower for a touchdown.

While the play really wasn’t necessary, and Rams fans are sure to be irate, the Saints’ offense under Sean Payton has always had the hallmark of being both explosive and fun. That showed up multiple times today.

Expect to see this play on highlight reels around the nation tonight.

The Saints lead the Rams 49-21 with just under 7 minutes left in the fourth quarter.
