Ray Lewis: ‘As a black man, you’re fearful to walk out of your house’

Former Baltimore Ravens’ linebacker Ray Lewis is a passionate man. With that, it shouldn’t be surprising that he has a strong take on recent shootings involving the police.

Lewis said on Thursday that “As a black man, you’re fearful to walk out of your house now.”

“Let me tell you why,” Lewis said on FS 1’s Undisputed. “I’ve been doing so much like trying to figure this out because the reason why black lives matter is because we got a heart. We got a pulse. We’re the exact same, but don’t make us and trick me and tell me that we’re the exact same when you know you look at me differently, you see? That’s where the issue is. Don’t tell me I’m something and then look at me and then tell me I’m that same thing that I know I already am.”

That’s certainly a view that’s been echoed a lot this week.

The NFL season has already been dominated by different players engaging in peaceful protests during the national anthem.

In light of the shootings in Tulsa and Charlotte, it sure seems likely that those will persist, as players try to make a similar points to the one Lewis shared.
