Zion Williamson: ‘I would love to play for the Knicks’

Duke star Freshman Zion Williamson will be making his NCAA Tournament debut on Friday. At the most, he has only six games remaining in his college career.

After that, the generational talent will be turning to the NBA for a career. The likely No. 1 pick in June’s draft, Williamson reiterated mutual interest in suiting up for the downtrodden New York Knicks.

“I would love to play for the Knicks,” Williamson said Thursday from the site of East Regional in South Carolina, via Steve Serby of the NY Post. The Knicks and their fans obviously feel the same way.

In fact, those supporting this franchise are dreaming of a day when Williamson teams up with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant to build a big three.

While we have no idea whether that will come to fruition, New York is doing its best to make sure Williamson becomes a real reality.

Much to the chagrin of rookie Kevin Knox, the Knicks are in full-scale tank mode as the season comes to a conclusion.

They enter Thursday’s action with the worst record in the Association at 14-58 — three games ahead of Phoenix for the best odds to land the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.
