Zack Wheeler market ‘heating up’ ahead of deadline

The New York Mets are not likely to move Noah Syndergaard ahead of the trade deadline today, but the Zack Wheeler market is “heating up,” per Jon Heyman of MLB Network.

Heyman notes that the Mets will pull the trigger on a Wheeler trade if they get what they want, adding that “Noah is not going anywhere.”

Wheeler has become a much more accessible asset for teams looking for a starting pitcher, because the Mets are reportedly asking for an incredibly bloated haul in any trade discussions for Syndergaard.

So far this season, the 29-year-old Wheeler has put in 124.1 innings of work with an ERA of 4.71 and 137 strikeouts.
