Chicago Bulls star guard Zach LaVine will not travel with Team USA to Tokyo on Monday in preparation for the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Team USA announced that LaVine can’t travel with the rest of the team from their training camp site in Las Vegas to the eastern metropolis after being placed in the COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

This announcement comes after Zach LaVine posted 13 points, two rebounds and two assists in Team USA’s final tune-up for the Olympics against Spain on Sunday.

It also comes after Bradley Beal was removed from the Team USA roster due to COVID-19 protocols.

Led by Gregg Popovich, the national team finished up its exhibition slate with a 2-2 record after losing their first two games. It’s not yet known who might replace LaVine on the roster.

Team USA opens up its Olympic slate against France on Saturday. The opening ceremony for the postponed Olympics are set for Friday amid growing concerns over COVID-19 in Japan.
