The New York Yankees placed left-handed reliever Aroldis Chapman on the 15-day injured list ahead of Tuesday night’s game against the Baltimore Orioles.

According to the team, Chapman, 34, is experiencing tendinitis in his left Achilles.

Chapman had an MRI on the Achilles on Sunday night, but the results were negative.

During Game 1 of a doubleheader with the Chicago White Sox Sunday, Chapman gave up a tiebreaking home run to AJ Pollock in the ninth inning. The Yankees wound up losing, 3-1. Chapman told reporters through an interpreter Sunday that he had been receiving treatment on his Achilles for a couple of weeks.

A seven-time All-Star, Chapman has racked up 315 saves and more than 1,000 strikeouts in his 13-year MLB career. He’s 0-2 so far this season in 17 appearances, with a 3.86 ERA in 14 innings of work.
