The New York Yankees will be without one of their top power sources for at least the next 10 days.

New York announced that it has placed first baseman Luke Voit on the injured list with a sports hernia. The team also placed reliever David Hale on the IL, retroactive July 28, while calling up two players from the minors.

Voit suffered his injury Tuesday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. It remains to be seen how long he’ll be out. The 28-year-old infielder is hitting .278 with 19 homers, 54 RBI and a .392 on-base percentage this season.

Meanwhile, Hale has pitched to a solid 2.89 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in 19 appearances out of the Yankees’ pen this season.

We’ll find out soon enough if these two injuries will impact New York’s plans ahead of the trade deadline Wednesday afternoon.
