The New York Yankees are reeling after an incredible rash of injuries hit the roster the past month, but on Thursday manager Aaron Boone shared good news about Aaron Hicks.
Boone said Hicks (back injury) is scheduled to begin baseball activities on Thursday (throwing), and should swing the bat soon, per James Wagner of the New York Times.
Hicks has been out of commission since before the season, as chronic back pain landed him on the injured list in late March. In his absence so far this year, Brent Gardener has been doing most of the work in center field for the Yankees.
Last season, Hicks hit .248 with 27 home runs and 79 RBI playing in 127 games for the Yankees.
