Putting up an impressive performance at your pro day isn’t necessarily a prerequisite for being selected high in the draft. But for someone of Josh Allen’s ilk, it sure does help.
The former Wyoming signal caller took part in their pro day on Friday, apparently impressing those who were able to catch a glimpse of it in a big way.
“We knew about his arm talent, the accuracy is improved and I think the feet look good,” NFL Media’s Mike Mayock said (h/t Cleveland.com).
Meanwhile, Mayock’s colleague, Daniel Jeremiah, reiterated a stance that has been common among scouts relating to Allen by saying “his ceiling is higher than anybody, but the floor is lower.”
Those on hand noted that of the 60 passes Allen threw, only about four hit the ground. He was apparently put through the ringer by Wyoming quarterbacks coach Jordan Palmer with all 32 NFL teams on hand. That contingent included none other than Browns owner Jimmy Haslam himself.

The above-mentioned Cleveland.com report also notes that Allen drew “oohs” and “aahs” as he dropped dimes 70 and 80 yards down the field.

Allen heads into the 2018 NFL Draft with a real strong chance of being a top-five pick. His arm strength is his most valuable asset. Though, questionable accuracy during Allen’s time at Wyoming has led to some concluding Allen is all hype. That may no longer be the case.
Seen as a tier below Sam Darnold and Josh Rosen among quarterbacks, Allen will almost certainly battle it out with Baker Mayfield to be the No. 3 quarterback off the board next month. Though, there’s still a chance that the Cleveland Browns or New York Giants, picking first and second respectively, take a further liking to him between now and the draft itself.
