WTA roundup: Top seed Yulia Putintseva rallies in Budapest

Top seed Yulia Putintseva of Kazakhstan rallied for a 6-7 (4), 6-0, 7-5 win against Ukraine’s Kateryna Kozlova in the quarterfinals Friday at the Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest.

Putintseva broke Kozlova’s serve for the seventh time in the final game, setting up a semifinal match against Dalma Galfi of Hungary. Galfi was a 6-4, 6-2 winner against Serbia’s Olga Danilovic.

No. 2 seed Danielle Collins of the U.S. will face Ukraine’s Anhelina Kalinina in the other semifinal. Collins eliminated Argentina’s Paula Ormaechea 6-1, 6-4 and Kalinina defeated Hungary’s Panna Udvardy 6-4, 6-4.

Livesport Prague Open

No. 2 seed Barbora Krejcikova stormed into the semifinals in the Czech Republic with a 6-3, 6-0 win against No. 5 seed and fellow Czech Katerina Siniakova.

Krejcikova took advantage of nine double faults by Sinakova and only faced two break points, saving one. She will next face China’s Xinyu Wang, who ousted American Grace Min 6-3, 6-3 in the quarterfinals.

The other semifinal features No. 8 seed Tereza Martincova of the Czech Republic against No. 9 Greet Minnen of Belgium. Martincova breezed to a 6-2, 6-2 win against Slovakia’s Viktoria Kuzmova and Minnen rolled over Storm Sanders of Australia, 6-2, 6-1.

Ladies Open Lausanne

No. 1 seed Tamara Zidansek of Slovenia survived a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 quarterfinal battle against Italy’s Lucia Bronzetti in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Zidansek converted all six of her break points and will face Belgium’s Maryna Zanevska in the semifinals. Zanevska advanced with a 7-5, 6-4 win against Russia’s Natalia Vikhlyantseva.

No. 5 seed Caroline Garcia and Clara Burel will meet in an all-French semifinal. In the quarterfinals, Garcia won 7-5, 6-2 against Kazakhstan’s Zarina Diyas and Burel knocked out No. 2 seed Fiona Ferro, also of France, 7-5, 6-2.
