Washington Wizards star guard Bradley Beal has been linked to various trade rumors since the team ended a disappointing 2018-19 campaign.

The idea here is for Washington to start anew with a rebuild while adding a ton assets for one of the game’s best guards.

Though, it’s also something the Wizards’ brass has pushed back against. Now comes this report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski (h/t Bleacher Report) indicating that Washington is planning to offer Beal a whopping three-year, $111 million max extension once he becomes eligible for it in July.

Beal, 25 is currently playing under a five-year, $127.1 million max extension he signed with Washington back in 2016. It runs through the 2020-21 campaign.

There’s no telling whether Beal would even consider signing the extension in July. He has two more years left on his deal and could cash in a great deal if the All-Star were to play out that contract.

Beal is coming off a career-best 2018-19 campaign that saw him average 25.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists while shooting at a robust 48 percent mark from the field.

With John Wall likely sidelined through the 2019-20 season, it seems to make sense for Washington blow things up. It could net a whole lot in a trade surrounding Beal.

Alas, that might not be the case.
