Minnesota Wild forward Marcus Foligno faces a hearing with the league for kneeing Winnipeg Jets forward Adam Lowry on Tuesday night.

Foligno and Lowry got into their second fight of the game with 8:54 remaining in the third period of the Jets’ 2-0 home win. While the two were down on the ice being separated by an official, Foligno appeared to knee Lowry in the head.

Both players were hit with five-minute fighting majors and Foligno also received an extra two-minute penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Foligno, 30, denied intentionally kneeing Lowry during their tussle.

“I saw them complaining about maybe I got my leg in there or something, but that was me just kinda ticked off and trying to get at him,” he told reporters after the game. “There was no intent to not throw with your fist or use another body part.”

No date has been scheduled for the hearing for Foligno, who has tallied 27 points (17 goals, 10 assists) in 40 games this season. He has 236 points (103 goals, 133 assists) and 627 penalty minutes in 644 career games with the Buffalo Sabres and Wild.
