The suspension of the 2020 MLB season due to the COVID-19 pandemic has robbed baseball fans of incredible moments this year. While MLB might be months away from returning, though, the Chinese Professional Baseball League provided us with the first walk-off home run of the year.

The CPBL recently kicked off its 2020 season and it didn’t take long for the excitement of baseball to fill our hearts. Chu Yu-Hsien, a star for the Rakuten Monkeys, stepped to the plate in the 12th inning and delivered the first walk-off slam for baseball fans in 2020.

It proved to be quite the night for one of the game’s top players. Yu-Hsien, the CPBL MVP this past season, capped off the night with three home runs in an unbelievable performance that got the season started with a bang.

Of course, you might have heard the cheering of fans but noticed the seats were empty. The Monkeys found a way to bring life to the ballpark with robot fans, which makes this moment even more incredible.

It’s going to be a few months before MLB returns. In the meantime, we can at least look forward to the CPBL providing us with the fix of baseball we desperately need. While fans might not get to watch Mike Trout, Yu-Hsien is the star worth rooting for.
