During the bottom of the seventh inning Sunday night, Bryce Harper hit an absolute rocket of a home run off Atlanta Braves pitcher Shane Carle that had the crowd in Philly on its feet.

One batter later, and Carle hit Rhys Hoskins, earning an immediate ejection from the home plate umpire.

Whether Carle deserved the ejection is perhaps debatable. Yet given the kinds of fights these types of encounters have led to over the years when not dealt with swiftly as this one was, it’s probably the smart move.
