Tony Ferguson UFC 249

UFC 249 will take place Saturday night in Florida, even after one of the fighters set to compete tested positive for COVID-19 the day before.

It’s going to take place without fans in attendance. Strict social-distancing protocols are also in place, as evidenced by this video posted from UFC champ Daniel Cormier.

As you can tell, they are taking that social distancing thing to an entirely new level. Just check out Joe Rogen’s table and how far it is apart from others.

President Donald Trump has made it clear that this event could act as a blueprint for sports returning on a large scale here soon. The event itself is also going to be something with Tony Ferguson and Justin Gaethje battling for the interim title belt.

As it relates to the broader sports world, this event going off without a further hitch could be absolutely huge. The NBA is planning for a potential resumption of its season in both Florida and Las Vegas. Meanwhile, MLB is setting up plans for a July 4 return to action.
