New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees was off to a hot start early in his team’s season opener against the Houston Texans Monday evening.
Brees completed 8-of-9 passes for 66 yards and had his Saints driving late in the first quarter. That’s when the future Hall of Famer made a mistake we’ve rarely seen from him.
We’re honestly not too sure what Brees was looking at here. He obviously didn’t see Texans linebacker Whitney Mercilus dropping back into coverage as the quarterback targeted Latavius Murray.
Again, it’s something we really don’t see from Brees. He did well to escape the pocket. But you have to see the linebacker in underneath coverage.
Saints fans can’t blame this on the officials.
