WATCH: Royals player dyes his hair pink for young cancer survivor

Sometimes the greatest victories come off the field. For Kansas City Royals catcher Drew Butera, seeing seven-year-old Dagan Lingenfelter beat cancer provided an amazing feeling for everyone. Of course, it also came at a small cost for Butera.

The 34-year-old, who in 2016 met Lingenfelter in the hospital battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia, now will have to dye his hair after the youngster won the bet the friends made when Lingenfelter was in the hospital.

“He was in the hospital battling cancer and going through chemo,” Butera said. “I made a promise to him, he had his hair dyed, that when he beats cancer he could dye my hair. So today, cancer-free, and we’re dying some hair.”

Now Butera and Lingenfelter both have pink hair and Lingenfelter is cancer free. Butera may have lost the bet, but it’s certainly one everyone is happy to see Lingenfelter win.
