WATCH: Rays’ C Travis d’Arnaud launches walk-off HR against Yankees

In the midst of a crucial series against the New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays catcher Travis d’Arnaud delivered with one of the team’s biggest home runs of the year in a crucial moment.

Moments after New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Hicks drilled a game-tying home run in the top of the ninth inning, d’Arnaud stepped to the plate in the bottom of the ninth and created some walk-off magic.

It’s a huge win for the Rays after they saw a win slip away from their grasps on Friday night. The walk-off shot by d’Arnaud helped the Rays make up a full game on the Yankees in the AL East and shows that they are capable of competing with New York.

If Tampa Bay can strengthen its pitching staff before the trade deadline on July 31, it could be the key difference to help preserve some late-inning leads against the Yankees.
