The Carolina Panthers might be excited about moving forward with first-year head coach Matt Rhule. The year started out well for the team in being able to land the talented offensive mind.
It’s been downhill since. That includes future Hall of Fame linebacker Luke Kuechly shockingly announcing his retirement. Remaining in the NFC South, Carolina sat back and watched the division rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers add Rob Gronkowski to team up with Tom Brady on Tuesday.
It goes without saying that the Panthers are not terribly happy about these recent events. They are also like the rest of us, pretty much already set to turn the page on 2020 altogether.
Out of all of the reactions to the Gronkowski trade, this might very well be the best one. Carolina is not holding back. It’s upset.
Can we blame them? It’s one thing to add a six-time Super Bowl champion at quarterback. It’s a completely different thing to bring in a player who was his favorite target for the better part of the past decade in New England.
The sky isn’t falling for the Panthers and other NFC South teams yet. But it’s darn close.
