WATCH: Nick Saban releases coronavirus PSA, hints college football season depends on following guidelines

Alabama head coach Nick Saban

Alabama Crimson Tide football head coach Nick Saban released a PSA about the coronavirus pandemic Tuesday, urging people to stay safe and follow CDC guidelines.

Here’s the video released by the Alabama football program.

Like most coronavirus PSAs, Saban urged everyone to practice social distancing — staying six feet apart when we need to leave the house — and said everyone who can stay home should stay home

At the end of his video, Saban made an interesting statement that indicates the college football season may hinge upon Americans following the guidelines set forth by the CDC.

“We are in this together, and as one team we will get through this difficult time,” Saban said. “And together we look forward to all that’s to come, like the opportunity to play college football this fall. But the best and safest way to ensure that happens is to listen to the experts, follow their guidelines, and take care of each other.”

There are already reports that athletic directors are concerned that the college football season could be delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic. So, please do follow the guidelines. Not only will they save precious lives, but they will also help us get back to a sense of normalcy much sooner than if we ignore them and pretend like the threat isn’t real.
