After the San Francisco 49ers blew out the Green Bay Packers Sunday, Kyle Shanahan and his father Mike Shanahan had a great moment on the national stage.

Mike Shanahan was handed the George Halas Trophy to give to 49ers owner Jed York. York wouldn’t accept it, instead urging the former Super Bowl-winning coach to hand it to his son.

Here’s video of the emotional moment when the two Shanahans came together and enjoyed the spotlight together.

It’s worth noting that the elder Shanahan has remained extremely plugged-in to what his son and the 49ers are doing. He receives videotape of every single practice, team meeting and video session and provides his feedback.

He was also an honorary captain ahead of Sunday’s NFC Championship Game.

Now, he gets to see his son follow in his footsteps, with one more step remaining to have two Super Bowl-winning Shanahans.
