After sneaking by Ole Miss in a 15-10 opener, the Memphis Tigers came into the wanting to put up more points. They quickly went to work in accomplishing that on Saturday with some unexpected help from their special teams.
Memphis wrecked the Southern Jaguars from the moment the ball was snapped and after blocking the punt, senior linebacker Keith Brown Jr. scooped it up and took it the distance for a 17-7 lead.
After winning eight games last season, Memphis is quickly working its way towards another successful season even after losing multiple starters on offense to the NFL.
Even as the offense struggles to find its rhythm early, Memphis’ defense and special teams are quickly showing its ready to shoulder the weight early. This could become a dangerous team once it starts executing on all three aspects of the game.
