The 2020 NFL season is going to be unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. The league will attempt to play its season amd a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic and with the Black Lives Matter movement as a major backdrop.

It certainly is a changing of the guard right now. The NFL just recently came out in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. Teams around the league are not simply allowing players to protest police brutality and racial inequality, some are pushing for said protests.

It has now hit the video game community in a big way.

Madden 21 to feature players taking a knee as a form of protest, celebration

It was just earlier this week that the Madden franchise added free-agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick to their game for the first time since 2016. He’s ranked No. 81 overall, better than half the starting quarterbacks in the NFL.

As you likely remember, Kaepernick led the now-infamous national anthem protests around the NFL back in 2016 to protest police brutality and racial inequality in the United States.

Madden also did something interesting with the inclusion of Mr. Kaepernick.

As with everything else in the United States, these two new features will ultimately end up being divisive wthin the gaming community. Such is the nature of the beast in society today.
