Former Cleveland Browns first-round pick and Heisman winner Johnny Manziel made his long anticipated CFL debut for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Friday evening.
Coming into the preseason game behind starter Jeremiah Masoli, Manziel received a great ovation from the home crowd at Tim Hortons Field.

As head coach June Jones noted earlier, Manziel will begin the regular season as Masoli’s backup. Though, it’s readily apparent that fans up north need their Johnny Football fix.
Having not suited up professionally since he was a member of the Browns back in 2015, Manziel has gotten himself sober off the filed. He’s a newlywed and has done everything right to accomplish the goal of returning to the NFL.
It will certainly be intriguing to see how Manziel’s first season with the Tiger-Cats goes. If he plays well and stays out of trouble, a return to professional football down south wouldn’t be all that unlikely.
