Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was darting toward the end zone in the first quarter of Super Bowl LIV when San Francisco 49ers safety Jimmie Ward came crashing in with a massive hit.

In the end, it was Ward laying on the ground in pain after he had separated ball from body hitting Mahomes inside the five-yard line.

Check out this crushing hit from Ward, who had to be tended to by medical staff afterward.

The good news for Ward is he ended up being okay, and his huge hit stopped Mahomes from gaining a first down. Ultimately though, the Chiefs went for it on 4th-and-1, and they converted. Then, Patrick Mahomes scored a touchdown to put the Chiefs up 7-3.
