Making his debut, Atlanta Braves pitcher Bryse Wilson appeared to record his first Major League hit. But Pittsburgh Pirates right fielder Gregory Polanco had other ideas.
Wilson hit a ground ball to the right side for an apparent single. But Polanco charged the ball and came up throwing, nailing Wilson on the rare 9-3 groundout.

Both Polanco and first baseman Josh Bell deserve praise for this one. It’s not terribly rare to see a play where a 9-3 putout seems possible. But all too often, those are thwarted by the right fielder, first baseman, or both not completely paying attention.
But here, both men were alert and the play was made. Wilson will have to wait a little longer for his first hit.
