WATCH: Dodgers’ Hyun-Jin Ryu hits first MLB HR

Los Angeles Dodgers starter Hyun-Jin Ryu is a legitimate Cy Young candidate with the season coming to a close.

However, no one would ever mistake the hurler for Babe Ruth. Ryu entered Sunday’s game against the Colorado Rockies as a .173 hitter with zero homers.

That changed in relatively quick fashion. The All-Star took Rockies pitcher Antonio Senzatela deep for his first ever homer.

The ball traveled 389 feet at a speed of about 100 mph off Ryu’s bat. It also tied the game up at one.

Later in the inning, Cody Bellinger tagged Senzatela for a grand slam to give the NL West champs a 5-1 lead.

Everything is smelling like roses for these Dodgers as they look to wrap up home-field advantage throughout the National League Playoffs.
