The Kansas City Chiefs might be 6-1 on the season and boast what could be a historically significant offense. But the team’s defense has left a lot to be desired through seven games. In fact, this unit ranks 31st against the pass.
According to at least one fane, there’s a simple fix for this. Trade for All-Pro cornerback Patrick Peterson.
A fan by the name of Ron Hughley is outside Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City legit campaigning for the team to trade for Peterson.
That’s just all sorts of amazing right there. Whether Chiefs general manager Brett Veach and Co. heed his call remains to be seen.
What we do know is that Peterson has demanded a trade from the cellar-dwelling Arizona Cardinals. The Chiefs themselves could be a logical fit. They have an additional second-round pick from the Los Angeles Rams after trading fellow cornerback Marcus Peters during the offseason.
Still just 28 years old, Peterson is playing he best football of his career. He’s yielded a sub 40 quarterback rating when targeted this season and wants to play for a contender. It goes without saying that Kansas City is in a limited group of teams that can be considered contenders.
Adding Peterson to the mix would only enhance the team’s ability to hoist the Lombardi for the first time since 1970. That’s what Ron wants. That’s what they all want.
