Our preview of this specific UFC 249 match between Calvin Kattar and Jeremy Stephens included the fact that both can throw down some ridiculous shots and knock out the opponent on a consistent basis.
About midway through Round 2, Kattar proved in more ways than one that he’s capable of doing just that. First came a right elbow to send Stephens to the mat. Then came the knockout elbow from the other side.
It really was something to behold.
I am not too sure how the ref did not stop the fight after that initial blow. It was something in that Stephens had a hard time getting up from the mat as blood poured from his face.
For his part, Kattar took the post-fight interview to address his concerns over Stephens missing weight prior to the fight.
To add insult to injury, almost literally, Stephens will now lose some of his purse after being clowned by Katar in the Octagon. Whew.
