WATCH: Angels’ SP Andrew Heaney honors Tyler Skaggs on first pitch

As the Los Angeles Angels continue to honor and mourn the loss of starting pitcher Tyler Skaggs, Skaggs’ teammate and best friend Andrew Heaney paid tribute to his fallen friend on Saturday.

On Heaney’s first pitch against the Houston Astros, he threw a big, overhand. curveball to Astros outfielder George Springer. The overhand curveball was Skaggs’ signature pitch and helped him make it to the majors.

The 28-year-old also took the mound without his usual mustache and facial hair, as he seems to have also switched to Skaggs’ unshaven look to honor his friend.

Los Angeles continues to mourn the loss of Skaggs, who was the heart and soul of the team for many years. Since his tragic passing on Monday, the Angels have gone 3-1 and continue to climb back into the AL’s wild-card race.
