It’s the new normal around the sports world. Having to come up with reserve lists that have absolutely nothing to do with sports itself.

Within the gridiron world, that includes something called the “reserve COVID-19 list.” It’s limited to players who have either tested positive for the virus or who have been exposed to it. We now one big-name addition to the list.

Vikings Pro Bowl linebacker Anthony Barr among those placed on the NFL reserve COVID-19 list

A four-time Pro Bowler since being selected in the top-10 of the 2014 NFL Draft, Barr has taken over the status as the Vikings’ leader on defense. Obviously, the hope here is that the UCLA product did not test positive for coronavirus.

Other notable names include:

  • Mason Crosby, kicker, Green Bay Packers
  • Dane Jackson, cornerback, Buffalo Bills
  • John Jenkins, defensive line, Chicago Bears
  • Justin Coleman, cornerback, Detroit Lions

2020 NFL season amid COVID-19 pandemic

The season is expected to start Sept. 10 with the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Houston Texans. Though, it’s definitely not a certainty that this will happen with the pandemic spreading across the United States.

While the NBA has done extremely well preventing an outbreak of the virus, that’s primarily true because its season is resuming in a bubble at Walt Disney World. As we have seen around the Major League Baseball world, playing outside of a bubble will create some major hiccups.

Concern around the NFL world is so prevalent that multiple big-name players have already decided to opt out of the season. That’s also something to look at moving forward.
