We’ve seen athletes get creative when it comes to helping fight the COVID-19 pandemic around the United States. Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook is just the latest example of that.

Cook announced on Wednesday that he’s donating his “Madden” check from the NFLPA to help provide PPE gear to first responders at the Minnesota-based North Memorial Hospital. The donation will come in at $17,000-plus.

This is actually a really cool way to make the money work as the COVID-19 pandemic spreads throughout the United States at an alarming clip.

Nurses and doctors continue to fight against the invisible enemy without the necessary protective gear to help them stay healthy. Every little bit helps.

It will be interesting to see if other NFL players decide to use the residuals they earn from “Madden” to help fight the good fight.
