USC names Matt Fink starting QB for Saturday against Washington

Clay Helton and the USC Trojans might have caught lightning in a bottle in that of junior quarterback Matt Fink.

He replaced injured freshman quarterback Kedon Slovis under center against the Utah Utes last week. Fink went on to complete 21-of-30 passes for 351 yards with three touchdowns and one interception in the upset win.

With Slovis (concussion) still not cleared, USC named Fink its starting quarterback for Saturday’s game against the 17th-ranked Huskies.

It would be somewhat fitting if Helton’s job were saved by a quarterback who was not on the radar heading into the season.

USC heads into Saturday’s matchup in Seattle at 3-1 on the season and ranked No. 21 nationally.
