Update: NFL Media Reportedly Fires Warren Sapp

We had previously picked up on a report from TMZ that Pro Football Hall of Famer Warren Sapp was arrested Monday morning in Arizona for the alleged solicitation of a prostitute and assault. Following that news, it was reported that Sapp was suspended indefinitely by the NFL Network.

Now comes this report from Sports Illustrated insider Richard Deitsch that the station has actually terminated Sapp’s contract—essentially he was fired.

Considering that Sapp worked for a company owned by the National Football League itself, he was subject to the league’s code of conduct policy.

Regardless of questions about due process, it’s well within the rights of the NFL Network to terminate the contract of an employee, especially if said employee was arrested. This is obviously the case with Sapp.
