The Houston Rockets were oh, so close to beating the Golden State Warriors during the Western Conference Finals this past season. They put together a phenomenal season, then arguably came within a Chris Paul injury of making it to the NBA Finals.
This offseason hasn’t been kind to the Rockets, adding insult to injury. Houston lost both Trevor Ariza and Luc Mbah A Moute, who were both critical perimeter defenders last season.
Now, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the team is “determined” to sign Carmelo Anthony once he’s free as a response to these losses.
That’s like trying to plug up a busted dam with your finger. It’s just not going to work. Not surprisingly, Twitter had some pretty demonstrative reactions to this news.
Congratulations to the Golden State Warriors https://t.co/KHBnYPYR0L

There's no way Carmelo Anthony goes to the Rockets with Mike D'Antoni as coach. The guy literally quit coaching the Knicks because of him…

The Rockets have had a really rough summer. Losing two key versatile defenders in Ariza and Mbah A Moute. Carmelo Anthony is definitely not the fix for that defensive lose 😂

Carmelo Anthony is basically the exact opposite of Ariza & Luc. Horrible defender and bad shooter. This is a massive L for the Rockets man.
