Tiger Woods was on fire for much of the day. So many other top world golfers like Adam Scott were on the top of their games as well. None of that mattered to Brooks Koepka, who outlasted them all to win the 2018 PGA Championship, his third major title in the past 14 months.
TWO majors. One season. @BKoepka has reached a new level of greatness.#LiveUnderPar pic.twitter.com/OzAhF65H3P

Koepka fired a final-round 66 to finish two shots ahead of Woods, who finished in second place.
With the victory, Koepka joined Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods (the last to do it way back in 2000) as the only golfers in PGA Tour history to win both the U.S. Open and PGA Championship in the same year.
While so much of the chatter on social media had to do with what Woods was doing Sunday, in the end many recognized Koepka’s monumental achievement.
Koepka is the perfect player to deal with the Tiger circus. Bombs his driver. Strong. Cool under pressure.

The world was hoping for a Tiger comeback win, all of Australia was pulling for Adam Scott, Justin wanted to repeat at the PGA.. and Brooks Koepka just said “let me finish back day first before I hoist the Wanamaker” pic.twitter.com/vY4SpwfABA

Tiger gave us a great ride but Koepka is absolute money right now

I love how after Tiger’s run goes cold, CBS announcers suddenly rediscover that Koepka is phenomenal. Then they soft lecture us at home for supposedly not understanding that.

Brooks Koepka is a beast, deserves all the credit in the world. #PGAChamp So glad he's on our Ryder Cup Team

Tiger Woods – still got it. Another major will happen soon enough. Brilliant golf this weekend.
Brooks Koepka – super talent. Incredibly consistent. Huge future ahead. Golf’s next big thing (if not already).

As much as I love Tiger, I feel bad for Brooks Koepka. An absolute unit of a human who dominated back to back US Opens and most likely a PGA championship, yet he doesn't get coverage or hype. #PGAChamp

Don’t let Tiger’s performance distract you from how DOMINANT Koepka has been.

Though, others were more upset with Koepka for “ruining” Woods’ shot at winning his 15th career major.

Brooks Koepka = Chick Hicks.

Sour grapes, if you ask me. Besides, wouldn’t we all love to see Woods win another major by actually earning it, rather than having his competition crumble down the stretch?
I know I would.
