Luka Brajkovic scored 22 points as Davidson upset No. 10 Alabama 79-78 on Tuesday night at the C.M. Newton Classic in Birmingham, Ala.
Brajkovic made 10 of 16 shots and also had seven rebounds and three assists. Michael Jones added 21 points and four assists for Davidson, which captured its first win over a Top 10 team since 2008, when the Wildcats beat Wisconsin in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
The victory was also the eighth straight for Davidson (9-2). Alabama (9-3) had a chance to tie the game late at the foul line, but Jahvon Quinerly missed his second of two free throws. Davidson was able to run out the remaining four seconds on the clock.
Jaden Shackelford led Alabama with 20 points. Juwan Gary had 15 points and eight rebounds. Quinerly, who missed his last four shot attempts, contributed 13 points and six assists.
No. 9 Iowa State 79, Chicago State 48
Tristan Enaruna and Izaiah Brockington both logged double-doubles and the offense dished 19 assists as the Cyclones remained unbeaten through 12 games this season by trouncing the Cougars in Ames, Iowa.
Brockington recorded game highs of 20 points and 13 rebounds, while Enaruna scored a career-best 19 points to go with 10 boards. Caleb Grill followed with 11 points for the Cyclones. Gabe Kalscheur contributed nine points and eight assists.
The Cyclones shot 48.2 percent compared to 27.8 percent for the Cougars (4-8), who had two double-doubles of their own: Jahsean Corbett with 14 points and 11 rebounds and Coreyoun Rushin with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
No. 11 Michigan State 90, Oakland 78
Max Christie and Marcus Bingham Jr. each scored 17 points to lead the Spartans over the Golden Grizzlies in Detroit.
Gabe Brown scored 14 points, Malik Hall scored 13 and Tyson Walker had 10 points and 10 assists to help Michigan State (10-2) earn its fifth win in a row.
Jalen Moore led all scorers with 25 points to go along with 11 assists for Oakland (7-4), which took its second consecutive loss. Jamal Cain had 20 points, Micah Parrish scored 19 and Trey Townsend added 14.
No. 23 Villanova 71, No. 18 Xavier 58
Justin Moore scored 12 of his 17 points in the second half, and the Wildcats outscored the Musketeers 41-20 after halftime on their way to a win in Villanova, Pa.
The Wildcats (8-4, 1-1 Big East) also got 12 second-half points from Caleb Daniels, who had 16 for the game, in winning at Finneran Pavilion for the 28th consecutive time. Villanova has won 10 of the last 12 meetings with Xavier.
Dwon Odom led the Musketeers (11-2) with 13 points and Nate Johnson added 12.
