According to general manager Dave Caldwell, Tom Coughlin is going to be one of the candidates to replace Gus Bradley next year for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Coughlin has previously been linked to the Buffalo Bills, and it seems as if he’s going to be one of the hot names this upcoming NFL offseason.
On one hand, this isn’t all that shocking. Coughlin, after all, did lead the New York Giants to two Super Bowl wins and has a career coaching record of 170-150.
On the other hand, it would be awfully weird if Coughlin returned to Jacksonville. He was the team’s first head coach after it joined the NFL as an expansion franchise in 1995 and posted a 68-60 record with the team.
He’s also not exactly the kind of offensive-minded head coach you’d expect the Jaguars to seek out to fix Blake Bortles.
Then again, based on comments made by Caldwell about Bortles, perhaps he isn’t the team’s greatest focus right now. It’s been nine years since Jacksonville sported a winning record, and Bortles has already been put on notice by Caldwell that his starting job is not safe (more on that here).
The Jaguars are blowing things up, and rightfully so. But if they are going to blow things up, perhaps some new blood is in order, rather than bringing in a 70-year-old coach who was bumped out of the equation in New York because he was failing to inspire the troops.
