Tom Brady contract extension not in the works, per report

Entering the final year of his current deal, Tom Brady is not expected to sign a contract extension any time soon, per Tom Pelissero of NFL.com.

Speaking live on NFL Network, Pelissero reported Monday that “no new deal is on the horizon at this point.”

This follows an offseason in which other reports indicated the Patriots could let the entire season play out without offering Brady an extension.

Brady will turn 42 in August, but there is no indication he is slowing down whatsoever. In fact, based on his offseason social media videos showing his physical prowess one could argue the quarterback is in the best shape of his life.

Furthermore, Brady has indicated in the past, and more recently, that he has no intention of retiring after the 2019 season.

With all that in mind, reading between the lines it seems like Brady and the Pats have an understanding that he’ll be rewarded — just not at this time.
