Illinois football program in hot water as three players arrested for armed robbery

The University of Illinois football program is in the news for the wrong reasons on Wednesday. According to a TMZ Sports report, offensive linemen Darta Lee, Howard Watkins and receiver/tight end Tarrian Holcombe were “arrested for armed robbery and home invasion for an alleged incident at a campus dorm.”

“Details surrounding the incident are still unclear,” the TMZ Sports report said. “But officials say it was reported to police just after 3 AM on Wednesday morning. Lee and Holcomb reportedly live at the dorm where the incident took place.”

Obviously, a lot needs to be sorted out in this case.

But if true, that’s certainly an ugly incident that goes well beyond what college kids generally get in trouble for. The potential ramifications would go well beyond the football field.
