Texas Longhorns freshman star Greg Brown enters 2021 NBA draft

Texas freshman Greg Brown declared for the 2021 NBA Draft on Thursday.

The 6-foot-9 forward averaged 9.3 points and 6.2 rebounds in 26 games (24 starts) for the Longhorns in 2020-21.

“First off, I would like to thank the University of Texas for the historical year and all the great memories. I will cherish them forever,” Brown wrote on Instagram. “I have decision to chase my dreams and enter the 2021 NBA Draft and sign with BDA Sports.”

Brown made the Big 12 All-Freshman Team, shooting 42.0 percent from the field and 33.0 percent from 3-point distance. He was second on the Longhorns in blocks (26) and fourth in 3-point field goals (30).

Brown was a McDonald’s All-American and was named Texas Mr. Basketball and the state Gatorade Player of the Year after his senior season at Austin’s Vandergrift High School in 2020.

The draft is scheduled for July 29.
