Texans interview ex-Browns’ GM Ray Farmer for GM job

Less than a day after firing general manager Brian Gaine, the Houston Texans are already busy finding his replacement with an interview of a surprising candidate.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Houston is interviewing former Cleveland Browns general manager Ray Farmer as a potential candidate to take over the vacant position.

Farmer served as Cleveland’s general manager from 2014-’15, before being fired in January 2016.

He was most notably suspended four games by the NFL in 2015 for texting team personnel during games. An in-depth report by ESPN Seth Wickersham did Farmer’s reputation no favors either.

The Texans are expected to pursue a number of candidates for the vacancy, though they did miss out on Joe Douglas after the New York Jets hired him on Friday.

Farmer’s inclusion in the interview process is surprising and will certainly leave many wondering just how seriously Houston is considering him after what went down in Cleveland.
