The NFL world was thrown for a loop earlier on Monday when the Houston Texans announced that they have fired longtime head coach Bill O’Brien after more than six seasons.

It was just a few months ago that Houston added the general manager title to O’Brien’s job description. Almost immediately, he traded star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals for pennies on the dollar.

There was an obvious backdrop to all of this. Rumors persisted following the trade that a rift existed between O’Brien and one of the game’s top receivers. In fact, O’Brien reportedly compared Hopkins’ personality to that of Aaron Hernandez behind the scenes.

Now dominating with the Cardinals, Hopkins has seemingly responded to Houston’s decision to fire O’Brien.

DeAndre Hopkins’ response to Texans firing Bill O’Brien was all class

Five words. One tweet. Water under the bridge. That’s the best way to describe Hopkins’ tweet.

In reality, there was a ton of drama behind the scenes between O’Brien and his players. It also appears that the former Texans head coach had other issues within the organization.

Now, compare that to the Texans’ announcement of the firing of O’Brien earlier on Monday.

As for Hopkins, he’s recorded a league-best 39 receptions through four games in Arizona. It seems like the four-time Pro Bowler performer has let bygones be bygones. That’s definitely not a bad look.
