Terry Francona not planning on trolling Rays manager again

Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona 2017 MLB Postseason

Anyone hoping to see Terry Francona and Cleveland Indians poke fun at Tampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash in the weekend series between the two teams is out of luck.

In the past, we’ve seen the Indians and manager Francona have some fun at the expense of Cash, who served under Francona as Cleveland’s bullpen coach for two years.

Prior to Thursday’s game between the two, Francona was asked if the trolling tradition would continue. He responded in the negative, bluntly citing a very understandable reason.

Francona is not wrong. Tampa enters this series at 28-18, one of MLB’s best records. Cleveland isn’t bad at 25-23, but comes in on a three-game losing streak after being swept by the Oakland Athletics.

So, we’d have to call this sound advice from Francona. There’s no need to poke the sleeping bear.
