The Tennessee Titans have reportedly decided on a new head coach to replace the recently-fired Mike Vrabel.
According to NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero, the Titans have decided to hire Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan.
Callahan had just met with the team for a second interview on Monday. Apparently, that was enough for general manager Ran Carthon and Co. to decide on the offensive-minded coach to run things moving forward.
The 39-year-old Callahan has been Cincinnati’s offensive coordinator over the past five seasons. He’s helped oversee the maturation of Joe Burrow from No. 1 pick to franchise quarterback. Wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins also turned into elite-level players under Callahan’s watch.
Callahan’s NFL coaching career started with the Denver Broncos from 2010-15 where he served as an offensive assistant and offensive quality control coach. He then worked with Matthew Stafford as the Detroit Lions’ quarterbacks coach from 2016-17 before serving in the same role for Derek Carr with the then-Oakland Raiders in 2018.

It’s pretty obvious what the Titans were looking for in a new head coach. They wanted someone to help improve an offense that finished in the bottom-six in scoring this past season.
Callahan is going to have a tough task ahead of himself. Veteran quarterback Ryan Tannehill will not be back next season. Will Levis was up-and-down as a rookie. Meanwhile, star running back Derrick Henry hinted recently that he’ll be signing with a Super Bowl contender during NFL free agency.
Either way, the Tennessee Titans got their man. It’ll be interesting to see how he fills out his coaching staff and what happens next in Nashville.
