The Tampa Bay Rays placed right-hander Chris Archer on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to left hip discomfort.

The American League East leaders also reinstated right-hander Nick Anderson (right elbow sprain) from the 60-day IL and outfielder Brett Phillips (right ankle sprain) from the 10-day IL, while right-hander Shawn Armstrong was designated for assignment.

Archer left his Aug. 22 start against the Chicago White Sox with tightness in his hip but has made three starts since then. He pitched four innings in Saturday’s 7-2 win at Detroit, allowing one run on two hits.

Archer, 32, missed more than three months earlier this season with right lateral forearm tightness.

Anderson, 31, last pitched in the majors on Sept. 25, 2020. He had a 5.06 ERA in 11 relief appearances this season at Triple-A Durham.

Phillips, 27, has been out of the lineup since Aug. 29. He is hitting .215 with 10 homers, 35 RBIs and 13 steals in 102 games this season.

Armstrong, who turned 31 on Saturday, is 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA in 11 relief appearances for Tampa Bay since being acquired from the Baltimore Orioles for cash consideration on July 30.
