Steelers’ Mason Rudolph expected to miss the playoffs

If the Pittsburgh Steelers are able to sneak into the playoffs with a win in Week 17 and some other help, they will be relying on undrafted rookie free agent Devlin Hodges.

It was noted earlier on Monday that Mason Rudolph (shoulder) will miss Week 17’s game against the Baltimore Ravens.

If Pittsburgh does indeed play meaningful January football, Rudolph will not be able to go.

The young quarterback replaced an ineffective Hodges during Pittsburgh’s loss to the New York Jets on Sunday. But he almost immediately exited with a shoulder injury.

At 8-7, Pittsburgh not only needs to win over Baltimore in Week 17. It also needs the Houston Texans to knock off the Tennessee Titans. Should that come to fruition, Hodges will be the man under center moving forward.

The former Samford star has thrown one touchdown compared to six interceptions over the past two games.
