Steelers finally release S Morgan Burnett

The Pittsburgh Steelers have finally released veteran safety Morgan Burnett after just one season, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.

Burnett originally requested to be released due to his lack of playing time this past season. The 30-year-old safety played in 11 games with Pittsburgh but started in just two. During his limited snaps, Burnett recorded a total of only 30 combined tackles and had six defended passes.

Previous to his time in Pittsburgh, Burnett played eight seasons with the Green Bay Packers after being drafted in the third round in 2010.

He will finally be able to test free agency to see if there are any suitors out there to take him in.
