It was 18 years ago Wednesday that 2,977 people perished in a coordinated terrorist attack targeting the center of the United States’ economic and military power.

Some are too young to remember the day that changed this nation forever. Others feel like it happened just yesterday.

No matter where were then and where we are now, Wednesday is a day of remembering.

The sports world itself has a special part in that. It acted as an outlet following the devastating attacks. We all remember both the NFL and MLB returning to action.

We remember then-president George W. Bush throwing out the first pitch at Yankee Stadium after New York suffered the most.

It’s in this that the sports world is paying tribute on the anniversary of the day America changed forever.
